True Blue Core
Blueprints
Blueprints are themed pathways within the True Blue Core that help students make meaningful connections across their general education experience. Rather than viewing courses as separate requirements, Blueprints bring together a small cluster of courses around a shared theme—allowing students to explore big ideas from multiple perspectives while building a more cohesive and engaging academic journey.
Each Blueprint is intentionally designed by faculty across disciplines to highlight connections between fields such as the humanities, social sciences, sciences, and creative expression. Whether students are interested in topics like wellness, sustainability, or civic action, Blueprints provide an opportunity to dive deeper into areas that matter—both personally and professionally.
Participation in a Blueprint is not mandatory and student friendly. Students may choose to follow a Blueprint pathway as they complete their Core requirements, gaining a more connected learning experience without adding additional coursework. As students’ progress through their selected courses, they are encouraged to reflect on how their learning connects across disciplines and to their future goals.
Students who complete all four courses within a Blueprint will have the opportunity to earn a digital badge, recognizing their engagement in a themed academic pathway. After completing a short reflective survey, students may also be eligible to receive graduation cords, celebrating their commitment to a connected and meaningful Core experience.
At its core, Blueprints are about helping students see the “why” behind their Core courses—fostering curiosity, connection, and a stronger sense of purpose throughout their academic journey.
